This paper analyzes and explains the impacts of demographic and human capital variables on the probability of migration in Iran. This study has been conducted using data from Iran's 2006 Census and logistic regression. From all Iran's provinces, a sample size including 266,360 migrants and non-migrants is selected. The analysis suggests that migration in terms of demographic and human capital is a selection process. Age, gender, marital status, education level, type of expertise, and occupation are factors that may significantly affect migration probabilities. Results indicate that the probability of migration of men is 2.7 times more than the probability of migration of women. The migration of young people 15-29 years old is nearly three times more than people aged 60+ years. The migration of people with doctorate degrees is nine times higher than people with elementary education.
